I am considering buying my wedding dress from ebay, but i would like some feedback from those who already bought it from there. Are they reliable? Was it as you really wanted/was shown?

I saw many said they are from China are they reliable?

They are much cheaper, buying them and the bill will be less then renting one from here!

  1. I plan to get my wedding dress and my bridesmaids from ebay.

You must must must check the feedback from the chinese dressmakers so that you know they are reliable.

Usually the ones that charge the most (but still cheaper than stores) are the best to go for as if you have to have a refund for something that is not right with the dress then you will only get what you paid for it minus postage.

I am sure you will be fine there are some fabulous dresses but do some research first on what dresses have been bought from that particular dressmaker by checking on their feedback.

    Good luck.

  2. I have not ordered a wedding dress on eBay, but my bridal clients have.  I am going to give you my opinion which is based on my 23 years of experience in altering and making wedding dresses.

Regarding the Chinese manufacturers... recently this year I have altered a few gowns coming from this source.  I am not impressed with the quality of the gowns compared to the wedding dress designers dresses.

Even the low end designers dresses here are better constructed and use better quality fabric for their wedding dress than the Chinese manufacturers gowns.

Now most of the designer wedding dress lines that are designed here in the U.S. are made in China.  But the difference is the designers here use stricter standards for the designing and the constructing of their dresses. And they make sure their dress lines are made to those specifications.

It appears to me the Chinese manufacturers can make a good look alike copy, but the quality isn't the same.  They probably do this to keep the prices low.  It ends up costing brides more to alter these dresses because you have to have fixed parts of the gown that should not come a loose.

The other problem is that even though the dress looks like the one of the popular designer wedding dresses... the cut for the design is off.   And the sizing is way off.  I have in the last week had to add panels to wedding dresses which have come back as much as 4 sizes too small.

I don't know if the brides are reading the charts wrong or if there is an error on the size charts for the Chinese manufacturers part.

As for the eBay wedding dresses that are used or second hand ... my clients have had good success with purchasing those.  They fit better and the condition of the gowns are good.

  3. i have been looking on ebay too.i think it looks much safer to buy one from a reputable seller,as i have read bad reports about the dresses from China( they are on the left of the page in wedding dresses) one woman wrote her dress was badly made and did not fit properly.she did not get her money back either. also i have noticed the cost of shipping dresses(locally) is a lot too.but of course it is still cheaper  than buying a new dress. i guess if i find someone who is selling a dress ,and will take it back if it does not fit i may consider buying one from ebay.

  4. I haven't personally gotten a wedding dress there but I shop and sell there alot.  The main thing you have to remember is to check the users feedback.  If they have good feedback they should be reliable.  Also set up a paypal acount if you haven't already.  It's a much safer way to pay for things you buy on ebay.  The buyer wont see your account or credit card number.  Here's a link

  5. Yes.  I bought my dress from ebay (seller Begaboo) and it is marvellous.  I love it.  In fact as I am having two ceremonies one here and one overseas, I have ordered another dress!

You are right, they are so much cheaper  - I didnt see the point in paying over $1000 for something that I will wear once!

    Good luck with the wedding!
