Just wondering if anyone knows of drivers from F1 or other motorsports who have driven into the wrong team's pit garage...

  1. I've never seen it. I do remember Fisichella taking the wrong position on the grid once though.

  2. not that i know off, been watching f1 since i was 10 (8 years) and never seen it happen, its usualy very hard because u drive out of it all the time, and ur team have specific colours

  3. I do remember Alesi driving into the Ferrari pit in his first season at Benetton. . .or am I very much mistaken?

  4. Rosbif has them.

I remember back when Oliver Panis drove for Ligier, he parked in his box so badly that the Jordan teams driver (Barrichello or Irvine) had difficulty getting out from behind the wonky Ligier.

  5. Mansell showed his brilliance in 1989 at the Portuguese GP. He stopped one pit box down from where he should have and the mechanics tried to drag him back until he found reverse. He was then black-flagged for reversing in the pitlane, but had a race-ending accident with Senna before he could come back into the pits.

Patrese definitely did it once at Arrows too, 1981 - think it was the French GP when the race was stopped and restarted halfway through because of the rain.

I seem to remember Alesi stopping in the wrong pit early in his time at Ferrari as well. I'll see if I can find a reference.

EDIT I think you're right about Alesi doing it when he first moved to Benetton from Ferrari, RSB.
