  1. Honestly it depends on your pain tolerance.. Some say its like bad menstrual cramps some say it doesnt hurt some say they cried...

They insert a small tube into your cervix and force dye into your cervix.. that can create some discomfort but just feels as if your period is starting. You will have cramps for a day or two after. You will also bleed some but not like your period...

You HAVE to RELAX the more you tense up the worse the pain is..

take (if you can) like 800 mg of advil, tylenol, ibprofen (sp?) a half hour before the procedure..

    Good luck with your TTCing..

  2. I had this done as part of the investigation to see if I have fertility problems.  it isn't painful at all.  Slight discomfort but it is over very quickly.

The technican I had chatted to me so that distracted me a bit and then it was all over.

    good luck!

  3. The HSG is painful for about one minute.  It's like really bad menstrual cramps and then the pain is gone.  I felt well enough after my HSG to go shopping with my husband afterward.  A good idea would be to take 800 mg of a pain reliever about one hour before the procedure.  Also, the hospital may not provide a pad, so you will need to make sure that you bring that with you.  I wish you luck and it's not as bad as it sounds.

  4. I don't want to scare you but it IS painful!  No one prepared me for what it was like... I had mine in Feb.  I only realised how bad it was when I was waiting outside a room where other women were having it done and I heard them screaming! And it was just as bad for me!

I've read that not all Women Feel such intense pain so I hope that you're one of those!!

I walked out of the hospital shaking! I vowed I would never put myself through something like that again!

On the plus side it doesn't last very long, the pain goes straight away and it's worth it.  After this test you can get to the next stage in your infertility tests.

Don't forget to take painkillers before you go in.  Good Luck xOx
