My vacuum is 6 weeks old, and now the rollers underneath aren't moving. Any ideas what might have happened?

  1. Rollers are turned by a rubber belt on a spindle. Sometimes the belt comes off or breaks. It is also possible that you might have picked up something that is keeping the rollers from turning, like a sock, or a big clump of hair. You can probably unscrew a plate and get to the rollers, unplug vaccum first. If you don't find anything wrong, make sure there aren't any switches that have been turned off or anything electrical accidently disconnected. If everything fails, hopefully you have a warranty.

  2. probably plugged with hair and such and more than likely destroyed the belt in process

  3. hair or strings wrapped around them

I used to have very long hair and every once in awhile I'd have to turn the sweeper over and cut the hair then pull it off the roller. I still have to sometimes because my daughter has long hair, but it's not as bad since I got mine cut.

If no-one in the house has long hair then I don't know.

EDIT: check to make sure the belt is still on track

  4. If you ask me,,,,I have to say that ALL Vacuums SUCK!!  (lmao)

  5. the belt

  6. yes it could be string or hair or it needs to be returned because of a malfunction and let the manufacture deal with it.

  7. More than likely it's the belt has broken.  Take the name and model number and get a replacement belt, or you can probably look in your manual and get a part number.  Most all are simple to replace and will break often if you get stuff wrapped around the brush roller.  It wouldn't hurt to get two, some are packaged that way anyhow, but that way you'll have one ready for the next time it happens.

  8. check the bottom if you see anything wrapped around the roller pull it off make sure that the vacuum isn't plugged in first! the could be  either  off the roller or it's broken , if you purchased 6 weeks ago it's still  under warranty, take it in they will fix it for you .

  9. The belt that helps turn the brushes may have broken.  You can purchase replacement belts and they're not hard to replace.

  10. Either you've burned up a belt, or one of the brush rolls end bearings have burned out and locked up.  If it 's a belt, it won't be under warranty, as that's a part that wears out normally, although not usually that quickly.  They're tough to change on some models, easier on others, depends on what you have.  If it's the brush roll end bearing, that should be under warranty.  Unfortunately, if you bought it from a mass retailer, like Wal-Mart, Miejer, or some other big department store, they'll most likely refer you to some warranty service shop where you'll have to take the receipt and the vac so they can inspect it.
