I've been a snowboarder for a while, and I was just wondering if people take their bike helmets out to the slopes

  1. Honestly, the thought has never even crossed my mind.

Helmet safety rules dictate that you should replace your helmet if it should ever sustain a significant impact. I never really thought about what a "significant impact" was until seeing some videos on Shok Spotr (http://www.shok-spotr.com/) and saw that a drop from waist high is significant enough to cause a helmet to become less effective in a crash.

You are probably a much better snowboarder than I am, but I know that I wouldn't want to risk damaging my $200+ helmet on the slopes when I could get a helmet specifically designed for the slopes for less $$

    Just my opinion.

  2. you would probably be able to but i wold not it probably is not as safe the helmets are made differently and are made specifically for what they are used for so i would not

  3. I wouldn't worry about safety, I'd bet the motorcycle helmet is more protective than a ski helmet, rev made a great point though.

there's nothing stopping you, if it was my helmet I'd be worried about fog, but then again I'd probably take the visor out and use goggles. I don't know what kind you have but I wouldn't want to ski with a full face on I don't think, mine's too heavy to hit the slopes with as well.

  4. use my bike helmet on the street luge........
