  1. I took it my sophmore year in college, and we learned about the different phases of child development. It was very interesting. This would be a good class to take if you work with children and it is required if you are a psychology major.

  2. Class was OK.  We studied Piaget & Bloom a lot.  We spent a lot of  time on Maslow as well.  We studied the basic stages of need & how children develop.

A lot of what we focused on was teaching / interacting with students on an age appropriate level.  Example - I have a 4 year old & a 2 year old.  When my oldest daughter gets in trouble she sits in time-out & we talk about what she did & why it was wrong.  My 2 year old is not yet in the stage where this is effective.  We still use time-out but we often have to institute a reward to make her understand why she should act the way we feel is appropriate.

I took it while working on my Elem. Ed. degree.   My wife took it while getting a degree in Psych.  & my sister took it while working on a general ed degree (she opened a day care).  But I think understanding how children develop makes me a better parent.  I think anyone interested in having children should take it.

  3. anyone who's a teacher has taken classes like these - so have doctors
