Ok. 4 days ago (friday) i started having labor contractions. Mild ones. I went to the hospital and they checked me but i was at 0 cm dilated. Sunday i went back to the hospital and i was at 1 cm dilated, 50% effaced and a -1. Still contracting. Monday my contractions started to taper off a little but later that night i lost my mucous plug. Now its tuesday and my contractions feel more like just regular braxton hicks. Not as painful as the ones last friday. Has ANYONE experienced ANY of this???!!!! Its driving me nuts because im sooo anxious for labor to really kick in. Im 37 wks with my first. PLEASE HELP!!!!

  1. I'm 38 weeks and there have been days that I've contracted all day long and in regular intervals...but low and behold...they subside (darn!). It's very frustrating. Some of the contractions I've experience were painful and for hours, others are mild period like cramps. My midwife doesn't check dilation, so I don't even know if I am, but I've heard contracting helps the effacement and dilation process. Good luck with everything!

  2. I've been having contractions since I was 32 weeks.  I've had labor stopped twice in the hospital, plus took terbutaline as needed to stop them.  I was taken off of the terbutaline because I had heart complications.  So, I just have contractions all the time.  I was checked at my 35 week appt. and nothing.  I had an appointment today 36.5 weeks and we didn't do an internal exam because I'm scheduled for a repeat c-section on 9/9.  I know that loosing your mucus plug is one step closer to labor, but that it can be up to 2-3 weeks after the plug that labor can starts.  Just take this time to sleep, enjoy friends and family, get everything ready for the baby.  I know you're anxious.  I am too!  But, the baby's gonna come when the baby is ready.  Know that you're not alone. This is my new favorite website because you can connect with real women experiencing the same issues.  Good luck!
