  1. It takes resources to make the fabric or polyproplyene to make a reusable bag, and honestly those do wear out too.   So what I do is I use store bags but I re-use them.

I also use many of them as trash liners so we're not wasting resources making/buying little trash bags.

If you really want something different, go to a craft or discount store.  You can find cotton/canvas plain bags for $1-3 each, about the size of a grocery bag.  I also know our local store, Redners, will give you a 3 cent credit when you use your own bags instead of their new ones.

  2. Try the Chico bag, from chicobags.com. They are made from nylon, can hold up to 20lbs, somewhat stretchable, water resistant, and they fold into their own small easy to store n' go bag. They cost 5 dollars, have a one year manufacturer's guarantee and are good for about 5 to 7 years. When you can longer use it, you can even send it back to manufacture and they will recycle it into a new Chico bag. This is a good plastic bag alternative and I hope it helps.

  3. Follow the advice posted here already, they are all excellent ideas. I got mine at FoodMax, but all stores have them. Other countries don`t have bags for free, you must bring your own, perhaps we are headed that way also.

  4. I use the ones you can buy from any supermarket. They are cheap and fold up small. Only prob is remembering to take them with me!!

  5. Yes! I made my own string bags, with a pattern from Wampum Keeper. I recycled string from old feed bags, so they cost me next to nothing in materials. (Had to make a netting needle and mesh stick, which can be used over and over.)

I like them better than the canvas bags I had been using because they just wad up and I can fit a couple in my pocket.

  6. Your local grocery store or Wal mart

  7. Target! They are thick and last forever. Plus they have a list of other things they could be used for! But I guess it just depends what you are using it for. If your looking for actually trash bags then glad garden scented!
