It's impossible to go from São Paulo to Colombia by bus, unless you want to make 4 days trip, I think you won't

There are no roads in the Amazon forest, so you have to circle it.

As the last person said, by bus is tricky because of the Amazon region but it is possible.  I really do not recommend it though.  That region is full of guerilla rebels and all together lawless folk.  

If you are looking for an adventure, take the bus all the way through brasil to bolivia, or peru then to Colombia.  You could also go all the way up to Natal then cross to Suriname, French Guyana, Guiana and then ride the coast into Colombia.  The Colombian coast is nice.  But a flight is way FASTER.  I recommend expedia.  Good luck!
