My daughter's sweet 16 bday is on Mother's Day and of course I'd like to enjoy the day as well, so I was thinking of a mother/daughter day, something special for her sweet 16 as well as mother's day, any other ideas/or places to visit?. I was thinking of carriage ride thru downtown then dinner.

  1. For steaks try:

    Gibsons

    Shulas

    McCormick Smhicks

    Ruths Chris

    For some fun try;

    La Creperie

    Bistro 110

    The Melting Pot (fondue)

    Weber Grill

    Heaven on Seven

With the exception of La Creperie all of these are downtown. La Creperie is on North Clark St, near Diversy. Go shopping on Michigan Avenue and also Oak Street. Whichever you choose be sure to have fun & enjoy.

  2. maybe a party .

  3. You are going to pay a lot ( and wait a lot) on Mother's Day pretty much anywhere you go.  Can you go Sat instead?

Either way, you may need a reservation at a steakhouse.  Try Eli's or Lawry's.  Fogo De Chou would be fine, but it IS a LOT to eat!!!!  No doggie bags either, so be hungry!

  4. Tons of great steaks....try Gibsons!

Good eatin!  Eli's is another.....Gene and Georgetti's used ot have alot of charm but the waiters are hard to understand and are pretty rude!  Plus the food's not as good as it used to be!

  5. the Weber Grill steak place is great too.....Ruths Chris or Lawry's for great steaks

  6. You should go to navy pier

  7. I think you're referring to McCormick and Schmick's. I've never been there, but heard it was good...expensive, though.

For an unbelievable steak experience, go to Fogo de Chao on LaSalle. It's a Brazilian steakhouse that has the most amazing cuts of meat and a huge salad bar. It's all-you-can-eat, so come hungry!

  8. I agree with below...Gene and Georgettis is a great place, for old school italian....maybe go get mani/pedis,....then shop some on Michigan, then head over to a great restaurant...the choices are endless...try citysearch.com...and metromix.com especially for some ideas. Great luck and Happy Mothers' Day!!
