Anyone from England?

what did they teach you in school about the revolutionary war? here in the u.s. they kind of tell it like you guys were the bad ones. did they teach you that the americans were the bad guys? i've always been wondering, and teachers never will answer my questions!

  1. I was, but I now live in the states.

      they taught us in a very objective way. The textbook didn't really take sides.

       Then again it may really depend on what school, and textbook provider you use. My school was a private school, so the education was really gruelling. No time to favour any country over the other.

  3. The American War of Independence is not normally taught in Secondary School, but you can take a course on it in University where we're taught both sides of the argument in a non-bias way.

    Americans that I've talked to seem to think that King George was a tyrannical ruler of the empire. This is not the case, in fact the King had very little power and it was the democratically elected Prime Minister (Frederick North) who did all the controversial stuff.

    Personally, I much prefer the Glorious Revolution of 1688 which brought democracy to Britain, if not the empire.
