Just had an adult stray cat neutered that we had begun feeding in our garden after advice from rspca & think he's been replaced with another cat! Is this normal? We are having to run away from him he is so constantly affectionate, he sleeps constantly, eats all day and just looks a bit sad all the time. Will he ever want to go out again past the garden or ever be the same?

  1. Adult strays have the need to breed, which constantly weighs on their health and their activities.  Once you remove the reaction to females in heat for them, they mellow out and don't have to focus on constantly being there to reproduce.

Yes, they get more affectionate, and they don't stay as active, but they don't change beyond recognition.

  2. Its a well known fact that neutering a Tom will keep him closer to home - Also has the added benefits of him not marking his territory in your house :) yuk.

It takes them a bit of time to adapt to the change and he will gradually start to wander a bit further

  3. Ye my cat is a real woos now -_____________-

And he seems to get attackd alot by other cats

  4. That's happened to a lot of toms I know. They all of a sudden become different cats.  It's normal, and actually they seem a bit less active, but the benefits of being neutered outweigh this.
