Question:

Anyone getting worried about the lead Rowdy is accumulating for the chase? (Besides Rowdy fans LOL)?

5 wins already and 10 races to go before the chase. Anyone starting to raise an eyebrow at this besides me? I mean if I'm lucky I might have 1 or 2 by then (stewart fan) But he could have 7 or 8 by then. Thats not the lead I want to see on anyone but my driver.

Not that he hasn't been racing to win all season, but at how many races before the chase do you think he can just focus totally on winning. Risking no tire stops, risking running out of fuel in closing laps, you know the deal.

  1. Nope. As evidenced by the 2004 & 2007 Chases a driver can go in with a clear majority be placed lower than he would normally because of the 10 bonus points per win & eventually would loose the Championship simply because of the points system.

    So nothing's set in stone.

  2. Yea i am a little but not really i mean yea that is 50 points but you can make that up in a race and member he had over a races lead then he had a bad day and jeff burton was withing like 25 points....but as much as i hate to say it(im a huge jeff gordon and HMS fan) kyle busch is good this year and i think that he has deserved all the wins that he has gotten....but i dont think that he will win the championship...i think that it will be either dale jr.(3rd in points and he has been consitstant and that is what wins you championships)and same thing w\burton but he is 2nd in points...and ofcourse watch out for Jeff (6th now) and Jimmie(5)

  3. we are getting to tracks where everyone else does better... i mean junior and tony and jeff own daytona especially in the summer... i hope we can get stewart or junior to win more races... i am seriously worried i do not want kyle to win the championship

  4. No. Jeff Gordon got scr*w*d with this deal NASCAR concocted last year. He had it won. Even if Shrub is 1,000 points ahead, after 26 races doesn't mean squat.

  5. This all goes back to the chase format. To answer your question NO, because no matter what he does now it will be wiped away at Richmond!

10 points for a win? What a joke, a win should be 100 points!

Ask Jeff Gordon what it means to be going into the chase with a pile of points? This system scre#ed him out of two championships. I've always had a real problem with this format because the real winner doesn't get the cup.

I've learned to live with it by respecting the wins and the heck with the fixed Cup deal. I haven't watched the awards ceremony since the Chase system was put in place! The Cup means nothing to me anymore! It's the same as if a driver wins after getting the lucky dog! They should be real proud of that trophy?

I know you didn't want to hear all that, but I got to get it said now and then!!!

    PEACE

  6. Under the new Chase format, it won't matter. Just look at Jeff Gordon last year. Once we get in the chase, 50 or more points won't matter much.

  7. Heck no...there's a ways to go yet. His lead isn't that far out of reach and I think there are some drivers who are gonna be kickin it into high gear now. Never count out Smoke, Gordon, Johnson or Junior or some of the other drivers. Consistency is a big factor too and there are drivers in the top 12 who have been holding their positions very well.

    Ok...bring on the thumbs down ....I'm ready n don't care. Smiles!! :~))

  8. I agree with you lol, but you also have to look at it this way, wouldn't it be nice to see if Kyle win the rest of the races until the chase, and he accumalates a 600 point lead, then he struggles in the chase and doesn't win the championship, and someone like stewart doesn't do good now, then he shines in the chase. That will be funny.

  9. I don't want to jinx anything for him, so I'll just say my fingers are crossed! I knew this day would come, just didn't know when, glad he made his way to JGR!!!

    Go get em' Rowdy!

  10. That's 50 bonus points, too. Consistency is nice, but Kyle wants the wins and he continues to pile them on, as well as being consistent.

  11. I am so glad to see it.  I wish only that Tony would do better.

  12. Kyle Busch fan's should be thanking Kasey Kahne for the 10 point a victory rule.

  13. well lets just hope tony can get a few wins this season, ive just been so frustrated all season long, with all these could haves and would haves this year, lets just face it its not tonys year, it Kyle's, but i do like rowdy too

  14. I'm a Rowdy fan, so this is nirvana for me.  Last year it was JJ way out front with JG and TS close behind.  Kyle is having a great year and deserves the lead he'll surely have going into the chase.

Ohhhhhhhhhhh, look at all the thumbs down.  Am I not allowed to be happy that my driver is doing so well?  I agree, Carl is the only one who seems to have a chance at him.

  15. Not a Rowdy fan, but i am not worried either...it's still early, anything could happen! As it stands my driver is in the top 12 right now, and as much as i would LOVE to see him take the cup, i dont see it happening, but like i said anything could happen!!

    Go Kasey Go!!

    # 9 all the way baaaby!!

  16. As a Jr. fan, yeah, I will admit it but only a little ;)  I'd like to see Jr. win the Cup.

Bring on the thumb's down, they have no affect on me :D
