  1. have a look on csci website they have booklets that they will send free and have info how to register a residential/ nursing/emi, and what steps to take hope this is some use.

  2. make sure you have the facilities to get everything in place, and know the laws - there are lots of rules for running a residential home

also, know what to charge.... some people i know of lost a lot of money running one of them, had to sell it to a 'chain' in the end

  3. Oh come on, you don't really expect an answer here do you? If you work in one you probably have a better idea than us lot. Make a business plan based on what you know from the one you work in.From that base gather more info. maybe there are grants; talk to your local authorites. Should be a reasonable business I guess; growing customer base, guaranteed payment (from State?), cheaper property prices.

  4. Make sure you thoroughly investigate any members of staff you consider hiring-my elderly friend was very poorly treated in a residential home by 'carers' who were supposedly experienced and had good references, the local authorities are now investigating since many members of the local community have lodged various complaints against staff and their treatment of residents-don't leave yourself open to being sued!
