I am going to Club Amigo Varadero in 2 weeks to stay for one week.

ANyone else going at this time, if so, where are you from and where are you going and why did you choose Cuba?? (Just Curious!!)

I chose Cuba because there is more freedom to explore than there is in Dominican and Cuba is a lot cleaner and safer!!

What should I bring for the maids??

So far I got some NEW nailpolish, mascara, liptsick, lipgloss, Dove soap, and lots of earrings. I am going to pick up some Feminine Needs (tampons, etc.) and some chocolate.

Is this okay to bring for my maid???

  1. I WISH I was going soon lol! You are going to have an amazing time.

That's really kind of you taking those things. The maids (and whomever else your heart desires to give gifts to) will highly appreciate those gifts.

I remember at the airport, one of the girls at the check-in mentioned eyeliner and pens...many girls ask for those. A couple of my friends in Cuba loved the eyeliner I was wearing and asked me to send her the same thing. So, yes, feminine items/makeup are a little hard to come by (expensive), like clothing, such as jeans.

The staff at reception and the offices work really hard, as well as the gardeners, waiters/waitresses, towel attendants, and other cleaning staff also.....and they may also appreciate any gifts...chocolates are a nice appreciative touch for the receptionists.

You will also make friends with the Animación Team (Enterainment Staff)....if you have even any gently used clothing, and things like this, it would be helpful for anyone.

Pens/pencils (little school supply items) are useful for adults and children alike.

However, anything you bring and give respectfully will always be kindly appreciated.

I wish you a wonderful time!

    ¡Buen viaje!

  2. Whatever you bring will be a wonderful gift for your maid.  Maybe some clothes for her children. You are bringing makeup things, clothing is more important.

  3. You have a good idea of what to take. Cubans really like Irish Spring soap, it seems to be their favourite brand. I wouldn't take chocolate because you might end up with a big mess in your bag. Remember that it is much warmer down there. If you want to take something that they all seem to like, try Eat More bars. They do get soft, but won't melt like chocolate and the Cubans love them. I always take a bunch with me when I go there. Take a lot of bubble gum.

You could take along some pantyhose, the maid will love you!
