The focal length of a converging lens is 0.40 meters. An object is place 1.5 meters from the lens. The distance between the lens and the image is ?

Can someone help me? I asked my teacher but she is busy right now.

  1. Ok, just use the formula: 1/f = 1/s + 1/d

    f=the focal length (remember, f is positive if converging lens or - if diverging lens).

    s= distance between lens and image

    d= distance between lens and object

    In your problem, f= positive .40 meters

    d=1.5 meters

    Now plug in to solve for s, which is the distance between the lens and image. Remember that all units need to be in meters!
