Why do you think slope is calculated the way that it is?

  1. Slope is measuring the rise (y2-y1) over the run (x2-x1). arctan ([(y2-y1)/x2-x1)] gives the angle that the tangent line makes with the x-axis, and so is a good definition of slope.

    If the independent variable is restricted to the first power, it will be a linear equation automatically.


  2. By definition.  The slope as defined is the way we presentaly calculates it.  That&#039;s why we calculate it the way we do.

    there&#039;s no ONE method to solve any question.   only the most effecient method (to the person applying it)  and it comes with experience
