Anyone good with wireless networks. . .?

I'm trying to get my laptop set up on a wireless local network with my PC so that I can use the PC's printer to print from my laptop wirelessly. I have a wireless/wired router, and I got it set up, but my computer won't connect to it after I created a WEP key; instead of telling me to enter the key, my computer just tells me that it was unable to connect possible because of a time-out. Here is what I want: my laptop- - - - -router------DSL modem-----PC----printer.

Any help?

  1. The printer has to be set-up individually for File Sharing for both computers.

Go to Control Panel > Printers & Faxes >

Add a Printer > browse to other printer on Network and add it.

I'll also give you other hints, and a picture & set-up link:

    1) The incoming cable or line should be connected to the MODEM. Make sure it is also plugged into electric.

    2) An ethernet cable should run from the MODEM to the ROUTER (back).

    3) Computers and other devices connect to the ROUTER front Ports.

    4) Run your wizards. Control Panel > Network Wizard, and Wireless Network Wizard (only if you have wireless).

    5) If after all of that is done, you still don't have connectivity, check your NIC.

RIGHT click MyComputer > Properties >

tab Hardware > button Device Manager >

scroll down to your NIC Network Interface Card >

Right click and DISable the card < yes DISable

    Restart your computer >

This should automatically load NIC drivers

Go back to NIC in Device Manager > RIGHT click, make sure it is ENabled.

  2. What you have to have is:

    laptop ------

    ......................\_____ Router _____ Modem

    ..................... /

    PC------------

    ...|

    Printer

Reinstall the router with the software being installed one PC, which is hooked by wire to the router.

With both machines hooked to the router if you want to print wireless'ly you need to:

    ON YOUR PC

    1. Start > Control Panel > Printers and Faxes

-right click the printer and go: sharing

-enable sharing on the menu and click ok

    2. Open internet explorer > Tools > Itnernet Options > Connections

-click on your internet adapter, most likely 'Ethernet' or something

-go settings, than click 'file sharing' button

Your all set up, now you need to access from your laptop.

    ON YOUR LAPTOP

    1. Open internet explorer > Tools > Itnernet Options > Connections

-click on your internet adapter, most likely 'Ethernet' or something

-go settings, than click 'file sharing' button

    2. Now open my computer, on the left panel click networks. IT will list your PC on it, double click and youll see "Printers".

**A reboot may be required after you change all these settings on both machines
