Anyone got UK HD TV? Is it really that much better?

I'm just considering ditching our old TV and getting a new High Definition (HD) ready set. I realise that there are not that many HD programmes at present but do you really notice a big difference watching HD?

  1. i have had a HD ready? TV for 3 years never seen  anything on it yet as you also have to buy ( i wasn't told when I bought the set) an HD box. this 'box' is what deciphers and show the digital picture in HD format on the TV.

My son has tried his PlayStation  or psp2 whatever it is out and insist the definition is SO much better.

make sure you can get 'blue ray' rather than HD as  it has won the battle and HD format is falling by wayside. I have no idea of my set can utilise any 'blue ray' equipment? maybe theres  somebody out there who can enlighten us  further.  meanwhile hold doff until you have checked out everything  or you may be buying old useless  stuff! but I do hope not as I am in that boat already.

  2. Hi,yes absolutely we have just bought a 50" plasma 1080p which is full HD and its great, people just stand out more, they look kinda 3D.I would def reccommend one,we also play the wii on it,and thats better too.
