  6. I was on a cruise when  everyone got a wake up call at 4am in the morning. He was looking for a teen that was missing. Mom was frantic. It turns out the teen decided to spend the night in someone else's cabin. She got grounded for the rest of the cruise and everyone was mad at her for the stupid thing she did.

  7. It isn't exactly "funny," but it's a great story. This was taken from my cruise review of our July 2007 cruise on the Legend:

    Day 6: Costa Maya

This is another docking port so there are no tenders. This was probably the best port for reasons I'll explain in a little bit. Actually, I didn't get off the ship at this port either, so I can't say anything about what it's like. However, I still enjoyed this port. This is because of what happened toward the end of our stay here.

As I mentioned before, we were with the Carnival Valor at several ports on our cruise. I think we were on an identical cruise, save a port or two (including the home port), because we saw the Valor at most of our ports. Anyway, at this port, we were docked right next to [adjacent to] the Valor, about 20 feet away, at the same dock.

For about the last half hour of our stay, somehow, crowds gathered on the sides of the ships that faced each other. I'm not sure if this was planned by Carnival or not, but it was interesting to say the least. I was in my stateroom listening to music when all of a sudden I heard cheering coming from outside. I heard it again. I then heard the ship's horn blow. I thought we were leaving port, but I look back out 10 minutes later and we were still docked. I walk outside to see what's going on, and I see a crowd of people lined along the Valor's Lido deck. People are on their balconies on our ship and on the Valor. Back and forth our ships went. The guests on our ship would shout and cheer, and then the Valor went. Then the other ship would chant "L is for loser" (L as in Legend), and we would chant something back.

Next thing I know, our ship blows its horn a few times. Then the Valor blew its horn in the same pattern. Then, the ships quickly alternated blowing horns. We'd blow ours, with a response from the Valor, then ours again, and again the Valor. This caused a lot of cheering from the crowds. When our horn would blow, we'd cheer for our ship and they'd boo. When their horn blew, they'd cheer and we'd boo. When our gangway was finally taken in (we left first), the guests on the Valor started cheering "naa naa naa naa, hey heey, goodbye". But it wasn't over. We stayed in port for a little while longer. Since I was outside, I could hear what was going on on the Valor. Their cruise director came on the PA system and said, "on the count of three, let's hear a cheer for the Valor! One, two, THREE!" A couple minutes later, our cruise director responded with a call for our cheer. As we pulled away, our ship blew the typical leaving-port horn call. The Valor responded with the same call, as if they didn't want to end the fun. Overall, our horn was much deeper, but theirs was louder. I think our horn was better though, as the deeper tone got to you more. This was quite an experience, something I've never seen or heard of before.
