  1. Okay..

    Example:

Hey you![this is the perfect mis of personal and informal]

After a whole year of arguing with you about Fall Out Boy in English Lit, I can't believe you're still not a fan...! Let's get together soon and find other bands to fight over, okay?[ask him in a funny way to hang out, so there's no pressure] (unless you'd prefer to discuss The Crucible! Ha!)

XO, Me [feeling brave? 77% of guys say they'd love it for you to leave your number too!]

    * the stuff in brackets are the little notes Seventeen wrote in there

    1. USE A BRIGHT COLOR: Purple or green ink will stand out in a sea of blue-- yet it's more guy-friendly than pink.

    2. KEEP IT SHORT: Three sentences max! He'll lose interest by the end of a long note, but a quickie will make him smile.

    3. MAKE AN INSIDE JOKE: A funny memory only you two will get is a cool way to highlight your bond.

    4. PLAN A "DATE": Telling him you want to see him this summer will give him the idea that you should hang out.

Guys said these messages were hot:

"My crush wrote her number, which gave me the guts to call her- and we've been dating ever since!"

"One class officer joked she'd by my secretary for the summer.  The yearbook is good for bold flirting."

    And.. this was NOT:

"A girl taped in her photo and drew hearts around it- then wrote 'Tear this out, and hang it up!' Weird."

    Decode His note

"whenever I see a frog, I'll remember that one time in bio when you.."

What it means: Recalling specific details shows he thinks you're special- not just a random classmate.

"I'm glad we got to know each other better this year."

What it means: This canned comment says he barely cares (or he would have been more creative).

"Give me a call this summer."

What it means: Sounds promising, but i's really a cop-out-- he still wants you to do the work.

    Kay, that's it!!
