Was it difficult to have someone living with you 24/7? How long did she/he stay for?

  1. Okay, I am 13, the oldest of 7 kids. My mom was trying to hire a nanny. She didn't live with us, but she was at our house 9:00-3:00. She ended up staying hours later. My mom and I got annoyed because the nanny would want to do everything, and wouldn't follow directions we gave her. She only lasted about a week.

  2. I wouldn't dream of using a stranger to look after my child, you havn't a clue who they are etc, the thought of a stranger living with me turns my stomach, you would have no privacy etc

Do you mind me asking why you want an au-pair to look after your child, where will you be or what will you be doing?

  3. I am going to have a Nanny look after my daughter when i go back to work beacasue i am a Lawyer and my husband has to be on call becasue he is a heart surgeon. My sister had an au per and she was brilliant with her 3 kids.

  4. Au Pairs end up being more expensive than they seem. Really. If you can barely pay the nursey, you will not be able to afford an au pair.

Au pair weekly allowance - minimum 55 pounds for 25 hours

You also have to provide all food and lodging, health insurance, at least half the plane ticket (if she lives within the EU where there's access to budget airlines, most families will provide 2 return tickets a year), a language course etc.. well ,you get the idea! If she breaks anything, that's up to you to pay too. It's just way too risky and in my opinion ,too much work (additional YOUNG person in the house) to save a few pounds.

  5. Hi, I would like to be a nanny when "I grow up" (im 16) which is kinda like an aupair and I would like to think i would work around the family if i was there 24/7 and I would like to stay for as long as the parents need me (are working etc)

I have had plenty of experience already (2yr old nephew & 9 yr old niece), and Im going to get qualifications (so i will be 20 when I am qualified) and I would like people to feel they could leave there children with me and that I could be trusted especially if they had to work 9-6 etc

Anyway if you feel they can be trusted (have relevant experience, have done a police check etc) they I dont see why not even if you spend the first week going around with the aupair watching her with your child etc

    Hope i helped some (:
