Question:

Anyone had any problems using PayPal on Ebay?

Have been trying to buy a large item & PayPal accepted half of the amount but not any more. Have had some emails saying my payment is being returned but it may be 30 days. Problem ? because the seller is only allowed to accept a certain no of transactions & this has been reached.

Any advice gratefully received. Thankyou.

  1. I've used it a few times but I avoid it whenever I can. All my transactions have gone well but I've heard from dozens of people who lost money because of Paypal's incompetence.

Any time somebody says it will take 30 days to get your money back it is probably a scam. If I determine that I owe you money I can write a check in less than a minute. If there is a dispute that is one thing but if there is no dispute involved there is no valid excuse for not getting a check out in a day or two.

  2. I Have had many problems with Pay-pal.

So now I arrange Payment by Cheque.

Most sellers are quite flexible on this if you contact them and explain your position first.

    Good luck.

  3. The seller probably needs to verify his account to empty it into another. My boss needs to do this with his Paypal account, and cant remember half the info he gave them and this is causing problems when it comes to sorting it out.

Business sellers/accounts on ebay are forced to offer paypal facilities even though they dont want them. Paypal charges one of the highest commision rates that I know of and a lot of sellers can't afford them. Maybe this is what is happening with you, who knows?

I personally would not use paypal if it can be avoided.

I had a bad purchase (wrong item sent to me) and cos I used paypal had to open a dispute with the buyer through paypal.

I ended up loosing money because paypal pollicy on the purchaser paying for the return postage - even on an item I did not order - and the seller did not loose anything because they did not have to refund the postage on the returned goods.

If I didn't agree to pay & return, I would have lost my original payment as well as been left with some old rubbish the seller sent me.

THATS WHAT PAYPAL PROTECTION DID FOR ME!

Pay by cheque if possible or do they have there own card facilities, most credit cards are covered by insurance these days.

  4. I have had trouble with paypal on more than one occasion. They are very quick to take money from your account , but slow at putting it back..I have stopped using this method of payment and I now send postal orders by registered mail, it only sosts about a pound and they can be cashed straight away

  5. I am a seller on ebay and this happened to someone who purchased off me they just sent me a cheque, as it was 2 much messing around.A couple of people i know have been having promblems like this .If it persists send a cheque recorded delivery xx
