  1. I have a RCA HDV5000 (clone of Toshiba) I noticed that contains a fan in the backside, check if is running.

    As a suggestion place the HD-DVD Player away from other devices that can generate some heating such as Home Theathers, Cable/Satelite Receivers, etc.
