Anyone have a clever announcement i can use on my answering machine

my sister thinks my matter of fact message is unfriendly and worries that potential employers may be put off by it.

I have this on my machine, " I am currently not available. Please, leave a message, and I will return your call. Thank You!"  Short sweet and to the point. You may want to have your message reflect who you are, but I would not give any information or phone number. Be cautious,you do not know who is on the line!

i've always been told, and have read that your message should be matter of fact and even "bland".

I don't think you want a funny or cute or annoying message , nor a long-winded one either.

If you know that you may receive calls from potential employers, you probably want your message to be similar to the one that you'd leave at your desk if you worked for them, and a customer or your boss called you while away from your desk.

I saw this one in a book:

"Hey this is ______, here comes the beep. If you don't know what to do with it, you should probably hang up."

Or,

"Hello? Hello?? HELLO?? I can't hear you!! Hahaha, I got you :) Anyway, this is ____, please leave your name, number, and a quick message, I'll get back to you ASAP!"

Well, a lot of people are leaving serious answers, so here's my serious answer:

"Hello, this is _____, sorry I can't come to the phone right now, but if you leave your name, number, and a short message, I'll call you back! Bye!"

Keep your voice light and happy during this message.

If your voice is too flat, it might sound cold or sullen to some people.  Try putting more warmth in your voice, while keeping the average pitch low.  Don't try to make the message cute or original.  That will put off employers even more.
