My headstart class graduates on Friday. I have them on Monday and Tuesday and I need one more graduation themed activity to do with them on Tuesday. Any suggestions would be helpful. Thank you.

  1. We've done Hawaii, Mexico, 4 th of July, Circus, Insects, Africa

  2. perhaps some watermelon and I'm not saying this because of your avatar...if it's a hot day it will be refreshing...but have them  eat it outside since it can be messy, maybe some sandwiches or hot dogs and chips

  3. Have you done the marriage of Q and U? There are no Q words that do not have a U in them.  It is a lot of fun for the kids.

  4. here's some advice i offered another teacher...

there are a lot of cute songs out there you can teach your class. here are a couple that are catchy and simple (don't want them to get to wordy or the kids might forget them!):

Sung to: "Twinkle Twinkle little star"

    Kindergarten here we come

We know we'll have lots of fun

Lots of things to make and do

    Reading Writing Counting too

    Kindergarten here we come

We know we'll have lots of fun

Sung to: "Oscar Mayer Wiener Song"

Oh, I'm ready to go off to kindergarten

That is where I really want to be

Cause when I get to go to kindergarten

Everyone will be so proud of me!

    I personally like this one:

    Zip-a-dee-do-dah, Zip-a-dee-ay-

My oh my, what a wonderful day!

Pre-K is fun--lots of learning and play-

    Zip-a-dee-do-dah, Zip-a-dee-ay!

It's time for us to go, now.

We're gonna ride the school bus-

Our new teacher's waiting for us!

    Zip-a-dee-do-dah, Zip-a-dee-ay-

    Beautiful feeling, beautiful day!

Last year, for my head start class, i made little graduation caps with my kids that were really cute. all you need to use is a toss-out bowl and glue a decorated square (that the kids decorate) on the top.

if your thinking of a play...or something interactive, you could do kind of an "interview the student" where each child gets to tell what grade school they'll go to or what they would like to be when they grow up or do over the summer. also, i've seen teachers do power point presentations with not only photographs, but scanings of the children's art work as well. last year, one other thing that we did that was fun is we let the kids pick out photos, stickers and use markers to decorate a scrap book page that we then laminated for the parents. they LOVED that. we also sing a song that is really simple and the kids do the sign language for that goes:

    friends, friends, 1, 2, 3

all my friends are here with me

    you're my friend

    you're my friend

    you're my friend

    you're all my friends

    friend, friend, 1, 2, 3

all my friends are here with me.

basically, if you can teach the kids to say friend and count in sign language, they can do the whole song.

    have fun!

  5. this is before graduation? You are looking for a class room activity to do?  have them do a summer collage - our 4's and 5's are making an autograph book but I don't know how old your children are.  If they can sign their name, they could do that.

  6. Something like a scavenger hunt, you make up the list of what they are to be looking for.
