I play middle blocker... and I'm 6'0 currently (yes, I know. I'm freakishly tall). My jump isn't the best... and I'm always thinking how if I could jump better, my hits AND my blocks would be so much better. Anyone help? =\

  1. Jump pushing off the front of your feet / toes (like a ballerina)

  2. A jump program is a great way to do it if you are really serious aobut it and want to put in the time and effort...I find that they are best way to improve your vertical.

The program I use during the off-season is called Air Alert 3 (just google that and it should be the first link), and it is a fantastic program that i swear by but it is failry strenuous. There are other jump programs out there that best suite different people, but I have found this one most successful.

And if you don't want to do a jump program, the only way to inmprove your vertical is jumping (shocker I know :) )...to improve your jumping you must jump, wieghts and other exercises won't cut it completely because part of the point of a jump program is to give muscle memory so your jumpin muscles are used often.

And yea at 6'0 you are pretty much already set for girls volleyball, but with an increased vertical you can become absolutely dominant!!!!

  3. start weight lifting like squats they will improve your jump alot

also dead lifting and arm lifting helps your hitting

  4. actually 6 ft isnt that tall when it comes to volleyball players in college there are many outside hitter 6ft tall anyway to increase your vertical I would suggest ankle weights they dont have to be heavy just 2-5 lbs on each leg when you are training use them for jumping rope, 6 inches, or just wall jumps the more you use your muscles the stronger they become just remember to get a good nights sleep the night after you train this is when all of the muscle tears heal over increasing the size and density of your muscles...good luck

  5. ankle weights

  6. jump soles or toe ups
