Depending on your budget and time (I presume that you will have an unlimited budget and time to work on it):

I would add lights and synchronize them to music.  Using computerized controls on the market, then you can have a rolling display that you can show when you drive your float through the parade.

Now, if you did not want to spend the time and money on equipment to program your own songs, there is equipment (Lights and Sounds of Christmas) which will allow you to plug and play up to 6 circuits.  Simply turn up the volume and you are ready to go (these sell at walmart, home depot, lowes) for under $100.
