  1. You can make an edible play dough with them. They love to play with it and then it's still safe for them to eat.

  2. What I did with my son that age was that I actually set up a little garden for him. If you have not much space pots will do.

Then I went to a nursery with him buying some easy to grow seeds, plus some seedlings and his job was to water the plants. He loved this so much and still does. As we live now in Australia, I prepare with him his garden bed always in autumn as during summer we cannot water it regularly. So he chooses the herbs and salads and flowers and he shows proudly to visitors and friends "his" garden.

You can then send them to pick the salad or the herbs and bring it into the kitchen.

I found this very good for kids if they experienced that what they sow they will reap and that one must care ( nurture) for things which you wish to see grow.

  3. something cheap and easy with no cooking is milk arrow root biscuits with different colour icing on top. you can use lollies example snakes for mouth smarties for eyes etc kids love making them and you can easily divide out the jobs based on age ....have fun .....6 year old can put icing on and four year old put lollies on to make a face and for mum or dad they can make the icing.......

  4. That is a great age mine are 3 and 5. We love to play with food. One fun thing but slightly messy was making pizza. We got the dough added the sauce sprinkle the cheese and add whatever toppings. Let them help sprinkle the cheese and toppings and help pick out the toppings it really makes them feel like they have accomplished something great and they get to eat the food they made.

  5. see who can eat the most!! YAY can i play....

nah just kidding i was only being serious!

umm maybe you could try getting them to make cookies with parental supervision and see who can make the most decorative ones.?? hope it helped.

  6. I love to have the kids make jello. It comes in various colors, and you can add fruits and cream to jazz it up. I would cut up some fruits and put them for the kids to choose, prepare packets of jello, wisks, and a bowl for each child...and then give them clear instructions. Make sure you pour the hot water though!.. then let them pour it into plastic cups and add whatever fruits they wish. They can even mix different colored jellos, it may turn out the be an art lesson as well.

  7. Quick and easy:

Use small cookie cutters to cut out cheese from a thick slice then but a prezel stick in the top (sticking up). The kids love these little Hordourves. They are really cute too! Michele

  8. cookies!!! make some!! Put "X" and "O" on the cookies and play tic tac dough..... :)

  9. Ants on a log:

Celery sticks, peanut butter, OR cream cheese and raisins.

Cut up celery sticks, and spread peanut butter or cream cheese into the little crevase of the celery stick. Then have the kids places the "ants" (raisins) onto the celery sticks and Tada! Ants on a log

Earthworm Pudding - This one kids can help and basically do it all

    Make Chocolate pudding

Crush up some oreos or just plain chocolate cookies and add them to the pudding. Mix throughly. Add some gummy worms in there and you have Earthworm Pudding

    Decorating sugar cookies

You can either have the kids help making the cookies or make them yourself, or buy the already mixed slice and bake cookies.  If the kids help make cookies be prepared for them to need to take a break, it is hard work making cookies.

After cookies are made and cool. Get some regular cake frosting. Divide the cake frosting into a couple of coffee cups and add food coloring to get the desired colors. Then let the kids have a plastic knife and spread the frosting onto the cookies, when they are done let them put on some fun sprinkles.

    Fruit Kabobs

Get some skewers and lots of different fruit and let the kids stab there on fruit and see what crazy combinations that comeup with If you want to mix it up add some cubes of pound cake, or some veggies.

    Ice Cream Catapillar Cake

Get the round ice cream sandwich bars, Cool Whip, Chocolate Syrup Cherries and Twizler

Unwrap the IceCream sandwiches and put them sideways ( as many as you want the point is to make the body of the catapillar) Cover the body with the cool whip (like it is frosting on a cake) Drizzle the Chocolate syrup on top to make a cool design on the catapillar or to create a message. Use the cherries for eyes and a nose if you want a nose. You will have to cut the twizlers but you will use the twizlers for the antennas and the mouth. Freeze for at least an hour after you make it so that everything hardens again and serve
