Anyone have any good ideas for my art homework? The theme is either power or reflection?

I am seriously no good at coming up with ideas.

1.Mindmap the word

eg power,energy, power line,etc

2.List as many words as possible

3.Now make thumbprint sketches of at least 20 of those words

4.Take 12 of your favorites

5.Combine them to make 6 images

Just follow that pattern every time

i would involve both factors . a solar panel mounted on a roof with a reflection in its surface of you in a pose of inner thinking.eg thinking man statue. ( reflection within) roof panel= power.

with a  small power station in the background an the sun rising high . over a lake and a reflection  again of the power station on its surface.

this involves several reflection ideas and  also more than one of power. they both interact and you can never be sure which you intended  so it make you think therefore should pose questions and interest.

How about a presentation of  " The Thinker" by Auguste Rodin. It's a beautiful bronze sculpture that shows a man deep in thought.

Or " The Gates of h**l" ( also by Rodin), tall and magnificent.

i don't know what level this homework is..i hope you aren't at art school, as you should have learned how to come up with ideas by now. surly the point of the homework is to help you learn how to develop ideas..simply asking what to do, isn't going to help you develop this skill.  i would recommend you look at the work of other artists who used similar themes. do a search on 'futurism', or soviet Russian poster art to inspire themes of power. (also Barbara Kruger 'we don't need another hero' or Lichtenstein) what about artists who where inspired by water, like Monet with his water lillies for reflection ...create a mood board (collage) based on his use of colour perhaps.  (also look at Jeff koons 'rabbit')

How about wrong or old reflections eg. anorexic girl looking in mirror and looking back at her is a fat girl, or an old frail man looking at it and an old war hero in the mirror looking back.

I prefer the second one, I think that would look quality.

Try using a hand mirror for a self-portrait, but include your hand and the mirror as part of the picture.  That might work for "reflection"

you might draw yourself and your reflection in the mirror...

or draw some people who are dancing on the beach and their reflection in the ocean...
