Anyone have any history with Downtown Airpark, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma?

I'm just interested in learning about it's history, it's now a run-down airstrip used for OKC PD's air unit, an MD 500, that's it.

The field opened in 1947 and that area was not even within Oklahoma City's limits until almost 1960. For more than 55 years the field served as a busy hub for aircraft ranging from Piper Cubs to DC-3's. A lot of pilots learned to fly there and it was also home to the the country's largest Aero Commander service center. A great little airport in its day. I was last there about 20 years ago. Sad to see it's now gone to the land developers as so many other fine airports have.
