  2. make little sandwiches, and put toothpicks in them, or make little cheesecakes and put it in them!

It is different to what I usually answer - but I know the answer for your culinary delight exploration because I did this for an event - it was a smashing hit with people at the event by the way. I could not resist answering this question.

    Try this:

    1) Sweet appetizer

With your toothpicks - have a fruit cocktail - I mean slices of fruits in place different order in the toothpick or even better kebab stick if you acquire this it would be great.

The fruits will be slices or cubes of the following fruits depending on size of fruit which are strawberries, papaya, kiwi fruits, melon, mango, pineapple and maybe cherries as well depending how much space do you have on the toothstick or kebab stick.

For the dip - obviously you need a dip - try any fruit yoghurt as a dip - a fruit dip.

It was definitely hit with the guest I can guarantee this.

    2) Tasty savoury delight.

Try Satay as a very good example for a good starting point for an savoury appetizer.

Acquire slices of chicken and obviously fried it in a deep fried cooker - maybe a Tefal fried cooker if you have one or simply pour oil into a saucepan and heat it up for 2 minutes and then pour the slices of small chicken pieces obviously with some adult supervision in case anything happens and fried it. Once the chicken is fried and cooked in the oil, and take out the chicken out of the saucepan and leave it dry on pieces of kitchen towel to soaked up the oil. After that take the chicken and slide the fried chicken pieces on the toothsticks or kebab sticks most appropriately which you acquire from store or shops.

For the sauce - I suggest peanut or chilli sauces as a dip. Obviously I hope no one is allergic to peanuts. If not you are OK to use peanuts as a dip. Crush the peanuts in a blender until it becomes a powder and pour it into saucepan with sunflower oil and warm the mixture until it becomes a paste and add some teaspoon of ginger powder and garlic powder to give it an elemnt of taste or something else if you desire. Once the peanut powder becomes a paste, it is ready to put on the table as a dip for your Satay.

    3) If you have a Canape set.

You could do anything basically for your toothpicks.

You could have slices of peppers, carrots, cucumbers, olives, small onions like you will see in pickle onion jars and etc as definite vegetable Crudités.

Use hot or mild Salsa dip could be use with the slices and peel vegetables. It will be definitely a hit with the guest.

    4) Use Prawns and slices of fresh raw Red or Pink Salmon which could be place onto the sticks.

Then use Prawn Cocktail sauce or Seafood sauce as the dip for the occasion.

    5) Other combinations with various dips, sauces, chutneys, pickles.

Pickle Gherkin (very small type of cucucumber) with pickle onions on the toothpicks or kebab stick with very hot chilli sauce to give it a kick.

Salami meats (Chicken or Beef) with cheese (Feta, Mozarella, Parmesan, Cheddar and etc)

Small fried baby potatoes with Cherry tomatoes - as a dip - use Taramasalata sauce.

Marshmallows with Jelly babies - dipped could be creamy Nutella Chocolate dip or whipped cream sprayed onto it.

Spicy small sausages with cheese with a savoury mild mint youghurt dip. .

Have cubes of Cheddar Cheese with pineapple with chilli sauce.

Fried meatballs or fried Scampi with a youghurt dip.

I am also wondering besides Toothpicks or Kebabs Sticks. Try also Chinese Spring rolls and Chinese Dim Sums which you acquire from any Chinese Restaurants. Also try Samosas - the various fillings Samosas: Vegetables, Meat and Chicken Samosas. You can acquire this from any Indian or Pakistani Restaurants. You also acquire many types of yoghurt dips and chilli dips which is free of charge once you bought them.

The question was refering to toothpicks and how to use them for your mom birthday occasion. I based my answer on this. But I have added a little bit of alternative and extra to give you extra choices of the matter.

I have many other ideas but I think it will take a long time to type it all up.

I hope this will help you in your quest.

  4. To go with your fiesta theme, stack a cube of mexican cheese, like manchego, with an olive, and a piece of chorizo and spear with a toothpick.  You can even make a little sauce for dipping.  change up the flavors and use pepper jack, with a garlic lime shrimp, and a pimento.  There are so many variations!

You could also do little taco roll ups with tortillas and spear them with the toothpicks.

  5. i buy little wienies and wrap them in bacon then roll them in brown sugar then pop them in the ove on a pie cooling rack over a jellyroll pan at 350 until the sugar carmalizes and they are really yummy
