  1. Panama is great to live in. I live in Boquete it is called the land of eternal spring. Panama City is very HOT! If you are looking for a job Panama City would be your best bet. If you have any engineering they are enlarging the Panama Canal Locks.

Salaries are a lot lower here than the states but the cost of living is a lot lower. My wife and I live on 8 to 900.00 per month, no house payment. If you can retire you get all kinds of discounts on everything here. If you need more info log back in and ask for specific info. The two largest cities are Panama City at the canal and David on the other end of the country

  2. I don't think you are going to be able to find a job here.  Unemployment is high and if a Panamanian can fill a work position they aren't going to give it to a foreigner.  That makes work visas extremely hard to get.  I suggest figuring out a business to start so you can come in with an investors visa.  With the new trade agreement the US has cooked up with Panama this will be easier to do than ever before should the US congress approve the treaty.

Homes in Panama are still a good price when compared to the cost of homes in the US.  However, with the big influx of foreigner moving here we are currently experiencing,150 new residental towers in process of building and dozens of new projects that are yet to be started;  the prices will continue to rise.  There's a lot of foreign investment money coming to Panama currently.  We have around 150 banks in the nine square miles of Panama City, we are an international banking location.

  3. Panama is great!  But you won't be able to work there unless 1. You're an English teacher 2. Doctor or 3. Really, really lucky.

Almost all jobs go to Panamanian citizens first and getting a work permit is very difficult.

You should always rent first, then consider purchasing land or a home.  Reason... once you buy it is very difficult to sell and you don't want to be stuck somewhere you're not happy or can't work (unless you have a permanent income.)

Note, statistics are telling us that 40% of the people who move to Latin America want to leave within one year... for many reasons.

Go to www.MovetoLatinAmerica.com for real estate services or to find a rental home.
