Anyone have any non-tacky ideas for an "Old Hollywood" themed bridal shower?

-You can set up a martini bar

- Food can be anythign that is a finger food, with people mingling you dont want large plates of food. cocktail shrimps, cheeses, crab puffs, finger sandwiches

-decorate in deep red and gold. Drape the walls in red velvet  curtains (buy them froma discount store like ross)

-invitatiosn should be classy not cheesy, you a font like Engravers and print it on a thick linen style paper...wedding paper divas has some nice invites too or just look for inspiration

-music should be classic rat pack era, frank sinatra, ella fitzgerald, dean martin.

Red carpent leading up to the front door and through to the room the party is in.

Sunglasses and feather boa's given as prizes or party favors.

Hang lots of clear white Christmas lights to give the party a shimmer.

Look on Ebay for large life size movie star cut-outs that guests can take pictures next to.

As for games, maybe you could do a movie trivia game - but base it on movies about weddings - Father of the Bride, The Wedding Crashers, Monster In-Law, License to Wed, etc.

In regards to music all you need as a little something to put in the background. Maybe you can find a CD that has old movie theme music on it. http://www.amazon.com/Music-Movies-Other...

For decor you can have a red carpet when people walk into the door. I would definitely use stars somewhere in the decor.

That sounds like fun!  I think setting up a background and simple costumes for pictures would be fun- maybe a really fun hat from the 20's or something (this may not be a great idea depending on the guests though...)  For games, you could find pictures of major and minor actors and have guests write down who they are.  For invitations, do a google search, there's lots to choose from.  I also found a site for a wedding with that theme, but some ideas could be scaled down for the shower.  http://weddings.about.com/od/traditionsc...
