I do try to toss one thing out when I bring in something new and discard anything not used/worn in the past year, but I seem to be in a rut and don't want things to get out of hand. Paper work starting to pile up. I appreciate any suggestions you can give me.

  1. I now have a pretty basket by my front door and sort out the junk mail immediately, my goal is not to touch a piece of paper twice if I don't have to.  Also, try to have a set place for bills that's out of sight and a magazine rack.  I also just had a yard sale to get rid of stuff that was too good to throw out, I have worked hard to learn to let go of "stuff" that was just crowding me.  Also, set your time for 5-10 minutes and put as much stuff in its place as possible, do a little each day and don't overwhelm yourself.

  2. When I would get the mail, I saved most everything, just in case I might need it. I have a file cabinet and I now file my receipt in the proper folder. this way it is not on the dining room table or in a desk I can't close. magazines I keep for one year, and at the end of the year If I haven't needed to use them for any information, out they go. Junk mail, is exactly what it says Junk, If you need to check out anything type it into your computer and you will get it all.Throw out the junk.

If you are like me, and get all these charities sending mail, pick out who you want to give to and destroy the rest. If they send religious articles ,put them in a box and when it is full, leave it in church, someone will use it.Hope that helped a little..

  3. Do you have a loft/attic? I put some wooden boards over the beams above the insulation so I could put boxes ontop of my ceiling. I store old books etc. that I may read again and Christmas decorations, that kind of thing. I also keep my camping equipment up there.

Basically, get some medium sized cardboard boxes, fill them with junk you don't want around but don't want to lose forever and store in a loftspace. Stuff like bank statements that you don't want cluttering your desk you could buy folders, and file them away then put these folders together in a cupboard. Give old clothes that no longer fit you to charity shops etc.

    Hope my suggestion is useful
