  1. Depends on which hamster you are getting. If you are getting a dwarf, i suggest getting a seed without corn or sugar, because dwarf hamsters are extremely prone to diabetes, and this speeds up the ability to get it.

For bedding, get carefresh, i do not suggest an other brand because they are simply not as good. Wood chips are pretty bad (except for aspen sometimes.)

Make sure to get lots of toys, hamsters are very active animals. Get a good wheel, i suggest the Super Pet Silent Spinner, its nice looking and super quite =]. A ball is also good for when you are cleaning the cage, but only for some people. I personally dont use it because it is pretty gross when my dwarf hamster goes to the bathroom in it, i have to clean it out right away T_T.

You should also get some wood chews, the hamsters teeth can get to long and it will be unabe to eat and will die if it is unable to chew on anything.

You should get a reasonable size cage, (dont get the OVO, it annoys me how crappy that cage is >.<) An aquarium is best, but sometimes more expensive. So i guess just a good sized cage.

You should also get a water bottle and food dish if your cage has not already come with one.

Do not buy very many treatsif you are buying a dwarf because of them being prone to diabetes and all.

Hope i helped, good luck with your hamster!

  2. As far as bedding goes, you will definitely want to get Aspen shavings for the cage, as other brands have too much oil and are not healthy if the hamster digests them.

Nutrigold is the best variety food and the healthiest choice. Also feed the hamster daily fruits and vegetables, to keep the hamster hydrated.

Your hamster will need to chew on something, so I would highly recommed a wooden hamster log(can buy at Petsmart). It is just an edible log that will provide a chew toy as well as a shelter, until it's eaten up.

Obviously you'll want to get a wheel. I would recommend the Silent Spinner Wheel, as it is very quiet and colorful!

In a cage that has tube attachments you can purchase special wheels at Petsmart that attach to the outside of the cage, so your hamster will have more room to run around inside the cage.

    Hope this helps.

  3. the best place for your answers is probably Petco

I'll suggest you to get a cage instead of an aquarium because then you can tickle their nose and rub their head without opening the door.

Anyways you should get this vitamin that helps hamsters strengthen their teeth and poor it in their water.

Get some baby carrots and some crunchy food-hamsters will chew on anything

For the bedding-it costs very expensive so you can just put a hand of shredded  paper. Extra Items-its very important that you get a hamster wheel AND a hamster ball-hamsters need excercise to stay healthy.

    Have fun with your hamster!!!

  4. Get hamster mix from your pet store as a basic diet.

supplement this with extra sunflower seeds and, as an occasional treat, a little bit of lettuce, apple or carrot. They love young dandelion leaves (but not old, tough ones), make sure they are clean, though.

Don't give too much "wet" food because they will try to store anything they don't eat right away and it will go mouldy and make them ill. Give them a little bit at a time but stop when they start putting it in their pouch. A little bit of mashed potato is also very popular, same precautions though.

If you have access to a source of clean, shredded paper (but not cross-cut shredder, the pieces are too short to bulk) it makes an easily cleaned, cheap, nest.

Polyester wool from the pet shop makes a nice, warm nest and is quieter than shredded paper. If you put both in the cage they can have fun picking and choosing.

DON'T USE cotton wool. It gets wet too easily and can also cause pouch problems.

The cage should have an exercise wheel and some pieces of stick for gnawing (otherwise teeth will get too long).

Plenty of sawdust, at least half an inch for hygiene but if you can make it deeper they will enjoy digging in it. This should be changed frequently.

If you put a jam-jar containing sawdust in the cage (lying down) most hamsters will use it as a toilet. Change the sawdust before it gets saturated.

They need fresh water, either in a small, heavy bowl or (much better) a drinking bottle and tube fixed to the side of the cage.

Cardboard tubes from kitchen rolls or toilet paper are popular toys. Avoid novelty plastic nest boxes, things like a plastic shoe with a hole in the toe or a plastic house with door and chimney. These are OK when new but your hamster will gnaw at them and sometimes make an "extra" door, which they then get stuck in because of the sharp edges.

Get a hamster ball or hamster dragster car (car with built-in hamster ball) so that your hamster can run around your room safely.

I hope you and your hamster have loads of fun. Handle him/her frequently, they enjoy human company. Mine used to wait at the cage door when I got home at night.

  5. food - http://www.petsmart.com/product/index.js... It's good cause ther are no seeds so the hamster can't pick what it likes and leave the rest.

Bedding- http://www.petsmart.com/product/index.js... It's stylish, safe, and overall cute! there are different colors, like pink white or light blue, and regular. :)

Lid- hmm, I've seen some at Walmart and Petco.

Treats - http://www.petsmart.com/product/index.js... My hammy loves these! they're yummy and healthy for hamsters! :)

    Hope I helped! :)
