Anyone have any suggestions for surround sound systems that work well with the PS3?

I'm looking for a HTIB system that will work well with my PS3. I'd also like it to be able to connect to a Wii and my Sony HD TV. I don't need an additional DVD player. Wireless speakers would be nice though. Any suggestions?

  1. HTIB usually don't have many connections for additional devices and usually only 1 digital optical or coax audio connection. So you will only be able to get true multi-channel surround for one extra device.

Look around to see if you can find a good receiver/speaker package. In the end you will be better off with that as the quality in HTIB aren't usually that good.

  2. If you look hard you can find HTIB's with decent receivers. I have not looked in a while but Yamaha used to package a couple HTIB's with nice receivers the speakers were not the greatest but the HTIB only cost about $30 more than if you bought the same exact reciever by itself. Onkyo is another one that puts quality receivers in their HTIB's. You get what you pay for though. If you buy an HTIB with a solid receiver you can always buy new speakers for it in the future too.
