Anyone have any valid ideas how to 'talk' to the Guatemalan government to let our adoption of 2 orphans go thr

We have worked on this adoption for over three years and did all our paperwork. We were approved and within a month of picking up our 13 and 6 yr old girls who live in an orphanage.

Then the government basically shutdown all adoptions. Those in process included. They gave each waiting family an excuse relative to their situation. The excuse to us was that I, the mama', was older than my husband by several years.

Previously, my husband and I even went down to visit them and met with the Guatemalan attorney. She approved us, but has not been able to get past PGN, who had notified us it would be soon for our embassy appointment.

We are still in touch with our girls and write and send money for their expenses. We also send gifts.

Does anyone have any ideas other than writing to Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie for help?

Why not adopt American kids who need American families right here in the US. There a lot of American kids who need families. Why go to another country and adopt foreign kids? The Guatemalan government probably wants their own citizens to adopt their kids first.
