  1. After reading several articles about weddings, these days October is one of the most popular times of the year to get married.  There are a lot of trend towards browns and darker color schemes specifically for this time of year.

December would probably be cheaper on the wallet.  Also, if you don't mind colors, often times places are already decorated which saves a lot of money!  I had a friend who was determined to have her reception at the most expensive place in the area.  The only way she could afford it was to have it in the winter because they gave her a big break on the price!  She got nearly $50 off per person and still got all the services the place provided!  She kept her wedding colors to red and green to save on decorations and had a lovely wedding just after Christmas 2 years ago.

  2. Have it on Halloween and let the guests come costumed.  Would make for some really great wedding pictures.

  3. I got married October 26.  The weather was beautiful. Not to cold or hot.

Getting married in December has its advantages. People are home visiting families.  The Church is decorated with beautiful flowers.

But it has disadvantages.  What if the weather is bad. (depending on where you live).  What if you can't get to the Church because of snow , ice , sleet, rain?

And not that you are getting married for the gifts, but having it that close to Christmas puts a strain on people that want to buy you something nice but also want to give their families a good Christmas.

But in the end its up to you.

  4. Depending on where you live, October is a beautiful time of year when you can still have your wedding outdoors. We are getting married in October and our colors are Chocolate Brown, Deep Red, with gold and champagne accents. Very fall, but very classy. I made the invites myself, and they are amazing. (i love crafty stuff tho). They are ivory and brown (our names in red) and brown ribbon tied in a bow with a skeleton leaf tucked behind the bow. The weather her in the midwest is usually mid 70's in October... plus, october doesn't have that high of a rain percentage. :)

I love warmth and warm colors tho. So if your more of a winter person, then do December. But one thing you might consider is Christmas and Thanksgiving are very close to a Dec. wedding, people may not be able to show up, be out of town, may spend most of their money on Christmas gifts or holiday travel and not have the time or money to attend your wedding in December. :)

  5. Have an October wedding and do a fall theme. Not Halloween, but harvest. With gourds and leaves along with deep red and burnt orange flowers as centerpieces. A spice, pumpkin or carrot cake. And have your vows mention things your thankful for, in celebration of the upcoming Thanksgiving holiday.

  6. December is an 'easy' time to get married. That's when I got married. The church was already decorated beautifully with Christmas decorations, so we saved a lot of money!! We just took down a few of them because our theme was 'winter' not Christmas, but the alpine trees and Christmas lights made it great.
