A buddy of mine gave me one as a present, and thought I would put my betta in it....there is no way I'm putting a betta in it! I was thinking about putting a couple male endlers-liver bearers in it, and maybe a cherry shrimp.....

I asked a question about it earlier and a couple people made the point that they are only suitable for planted tanks....

Are they really that impossible?

Has anyone had one?

I want to use it because my buddy will be crushed, but on the other hand, if its really impossible, I'll let go of the idea...

Whats your advice?

  1. try, some tetra's

  2. a betta should do well in this small tank. I think it is too small for live bearing fish due to less oxygen in the water. It won't hurt to put in a small  water plant. Pet smart can help you with any concerns, they have people working in the fish dept. that know lots about fishes.

  3. i dont believe in the rule 1 inch of  fish per gal .i had a 1 gal with a white cloud minnow and a black neon tetra and a black skirt tetra iv had them for 3 years now all alive i did a water change every 2 weeks. mine just had a air stone for filtration. so as long as it has a aerator that would work. now i have move on to a bigger tank my friend has my small one.

  4. yeah you could put a fiddler crab in there too

  5. That is kind of a small tank, but sometimes good things come in small packages. This tank is not the largest tank, but yeah I suggest putting maybe two or three live-bearers and cherry shrimp. I suggest that you add live plants though because the shrimp needs live plants to thrive. You are going to have to change the tank though once the fish grow, you can buy a 10 gallon for about 10 dollars, but it does not come with decorations. I also heard that a dwarf pufferfish can thrive in a 1.5 gallon tank, you might want to consider one of these too.
