I've just been diagnosed with hypothyroidism and I know that it has affected my fertility over the past year. Medication for this condition takes about 2 months or so to really kick in. Just want to know if anyone else out there in Yahooland has experienced a successful pregnancy after being diagnosed and then treated for this?

  1. I am hypothyroid.  Have been on meds since 19 for it. (now 31)  I had an unplanned pregnancy that went very well.  I am currently preg with #2, and got preg the month we started trying.  The only thing is, you have to get your levels checked often.  They can fluctuate during pregnancy.  Otherwise, it is an easy pregnancy.  Not considered high risk at all.

  2. I've had hypothyroidism since I was a toddler and have had 2 successful pregnancies .. both are healthy active young men now.

hypothyroidism affects so many different functions in your body, but as long as you take your replacement therapy you should be fine.

  3. I was diagnosed with Hypothyroidism while I was in high school (many, many years ago).  I have lived a perfectly normal life, got pregnant and had a baby with no problems at all.

  4. Let me first say that I sympathize with you because this problem runs in my family. But I was too fertile during treatment. I had 2 children and they both are fine. They were tested however a few times after birth but now they are fine. I was really fortunate to have 2 great and normal pregnancies, although I was considered high risk. Now I'm dealing with extremely low libido and I hope that you don't experience that. You'll be fine.
