  1. Try reading Simon Winchester's "Korea."  He writes about his adventures walking through Korea from Jeju Do to the North Korean border.

  2. It's fairly safe.

The subway system is very efficient though.

If you can learn how to ride it, you can go practically anywhere!

But it can get crowded sometimes.

Just be careful of taking taxi's late at night.

Oh, this pertains to main parts of Seoul only since I've only walked around there.

  3. Korea is an awesome place to visit and it is very easy to get around. The subway is all color coded and if you are lost there are many younger koreans that speak english. And most of them are extremly friendly.

There are also buses that can take you many places and taxis. Is there anywhere specific you are trying to visit? I lived there for two years.

I recommend you try to learn a little of the language. You can learn the alphabet in two days if you really wanted to. It would help you read city names when they are not posted in english. (but majority of places they are)

  4. It's too hot to do that right now but sometime in September or October would be ok.
