    Mr. Lester Baker

    Mr. Lester William Baker, 83, of Frederick, died Monday, July 21, 2008, at the Golden Living Center, Frederick. He was the husband of Pauline Mae Frushour Baker.

    Born March 11, 1925, in Hagerstown, he was a son of the late John Hubert Baker and Alice Virginia Baker Fogle.

    Mr. Baker worked at Everedy Company and later Fort Detrick. In 1958, Mr. Baker opened Baker's Fire Protection in Frederick and ran the company until his retirement in 1990. He was a life member and former captain of the Independent Hose Company No. 1, Frederick and a life member of the Citizens Truck Company No. 4. He was also a member of the Loyal Order of Moose; the Fraternal Order of Eagles, and the AMVETS, Post #2, all of Frederick.

    Besides his wife, he is survived by a daughter, Doris Mae Myers and husband, Robert Lee Myers, of Adamstown; a granddaughter, Amanda Mae Myers of Adamstown; one brother, James Edward Baker of Frederick; two sisters, Annabelle V. Whittington of Jefferson and Alice Hunter of Florida; and numerous nieces and nephews.

    He was preceded in death by a sister, Rosalie Slomcheck. He is fondly remembered by Tee Tee, Joshua, Pearl, Faith, Megan, Star and Kermi.

    The family will receive friends from 6 to 9 p.m. Friday, Aug. 1, at the Keeney and Basford, P.A., Funeral Home, 106 E. Church St., Frederick. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 2, from the funeral home, with the Pastor Lloyd Fuss, officiating.

    Interment will be in Grossnickle Church Cemetery, Myersville.

    In lieu of flowers, donations should be made to Independent Hose Company #1, 310 Baughman's Lane, Frederick, MD 21702 or the Citizens Truck Company, 9 S. Court St., Frederick, MD 21701. Online condolences may be shared with the family at KeeneyBasford.com.
