My daughter just turned one and she is going to the GI doctor and her regular doctor next week. I was just curious what other Mom's went through and what your child was switched to. I am scared to go through anything that might upset my daughter's tummy. I don't miss all the problems we had in the beginning with the protein allergy.

I know the doctors have said that typically babies outgrow this allergy around 1 year and that they are normally switched to milk just like other babies..is this true??? I had tried soy formula 2 months ago, under the GI doctors request and she had 3 bottles and was throwing up for several days. Any advice would be appreciated so I can ask lots of questions. I want to be as ready as possible when the transition takes place. Any parent that went through switching formula's due to this allergy should understand where I am coming from so please only comment if you have gone through this or know someone who do.

THANKS IN ADVANCE!!!

  1. I encountered one time this kind of situation with my son when he was less than one year old but it didn't last. But the only thing that I did was followed the doctor's order to switch his regular formula to milk-free or lactose free formula. I only tried it for 3-5 days and he went back to his normal formula. It wasn't that worse though. But its better for you to talk to your child's pediatrician because she knows better than we think. The first time, doctors usually try switching regular formula to soya or isomil if there is throwing up but if throwing up persist, they try switching again to another non-based milk formula to see how things work with the child's adjustment on milk.

Its really hard on my part as a mother to see my son suffering like that but always hope that it'll end up pretty soon. Hope it help you a bit. Good luck!
