Anyone have personal experience using appetite and nausea meds with cancer?

I have a family member with cancer who's biggest problem is not pain, but both having no appetite as well as nausea. These are no doubt from the Chemo she is going through. My question is has anyone used any meds personally or had a family member during chemo that have helped with these side effects. I am completely aware of every nausea medication out there, I am looking for actual experience, not a list you got off google.

With the experience that I had with chemo I also had a loss of appetite and then would always have an urge for the strangest foods. For me Zofran and Ativan worked the best and Compazine had a bad effect on me. It might be different on the person for which medicine works the best...it took me awhile to find out which were the most effective for me but I hope this might help.

My mother used zofran.

She also sometimes used ginger tea...

I have to say though, that the effect was minimal.. and most of the time, she had to forece herself to eat.. she lost a lots of weight.
