  2. COCONUT FRUIT SALAD

    3 bananas

    2 Gala apples

1 can of sliced pineapple (in its own juice)

    coconut

    pecans

Drain pineapple. Slice bananas, apples and pineapple to desired thickness. Combine in a serving bowl.

Add desired amount of coconut and chopped pecans to top it off.

  3. This was my grandmother's recipe.  Everyone in the family loves it - 4 generations worth!  We normally make it in the winter time with mostly canned fruits, but we've also made it with fresh fruits.

    FRUIT SALAD DRESSING

    1 egg

    1/2 cup sugar

    2 T. corn starch

    2 T. lemon juice

juice from 1 large (20 oz.) can pineapple chunks

Combine and cook together above ingredients.

When cool, add 1/2 pint whipping cream - whipped (or 2 cups Cool Whip) and 1/4 # mini marshmallows (2 1/2 cups).

For salad, use pineapple chunks, sliced bananas, fresh red grapes, peaches or apricots, and pears.  Drain fruit well.  Mix with salad dressing.  Add some chopped nuts when ready to serve.  (If you add the nuts early, they turn the fruits dark.)  Top each serving with a maraschino cherry.

If this wasn't the type you had in mind, you could try it this winter!

  4. When fruit salad gets boring I switch to fennel and orange salad or sliced pears, nuts, and fresh chopped mint or basil.

Typical tropical fruit salad but use vinaigrette or blue cheese dressing. Sounds icky but it's really good.

Typical fruit salad - toss in some granola for texture.

I don't call this a salad but I guess it really is - I toss fruit in melted butter and a touch of vanilla, sprinkle with brown sugar, then grill it in a holey grilling pan.

  5. This looks fun...you scoop out a watermelon and put fruit salad in side it. Well, if that sounds fun, click on the sources site for more details.

    That's the first one.

The second site has many different types of fruit salad.

    Hope I helped!!!

  6. Same old, same old from me....except....go to the supermarket and get a can of something totally unexpected in the way of canned fruit.

    Works everytime.

  7. Escamocha

    fruit salad only better

    Prep time: 10-30 min

Set time: 1 hour for better flavor, although not necessary

Place: ½ cup dried fruit (cranberries, raisons, papaya, mango) whatever you like in bottom of 2 qt bowl

Cut up: 4 cups of fresh fruit cut up in small pieces

Use your favorite fruit.  I start with a pre-cut fruit platter purchased at the store.  The juice that’s in the bottom of the container, don’t toss that, dump it in your large bowl.

Mix: 1 cup of sweetened condensed milk

Juice of one orange (½ cup of orange juice) or what ever slightly tart juice you have on hand that will go with the fruit you have put in your fruit salad.  1 cup of yogurt plain or fruit flavored can be substituted for the sweetened condensed milk for less calories.

Pour over fruit salad, toss thoroughly, let set 1 hour up to 12 hours.

Just before serving add: 1 cup of loose granola
