Anyone have trouble with Freecycle?

Ive been listing this old console TV I have with them for the last month. Everytime I list it on their site I get 5-6 responses saying yes they want the tv and will come and pick it up. No one ever shows to get it though. This is my first experience with Freecycle, is this normal?

And yes the TV works!

  1. That's not unusual.  After they say they want it, then they probably cannot figure out how to get such a large heavy item home so they just don't come for it or let you know what's going on.  I would just sit it on the driveway with a big FREE sign on it - somebody would pick it up and you won't have to deal with it. (We do that where I live and stuff is gone within an hour. The night before trash pickup days are the best  around here. (Some cities do have ordinances against that.)

  2. freecycle works well here, but sometimes you get some odd requests or folks who never show. You just put a "If person does not pickup, next person will be contacted" and item will be given away. NEEDS to be gone by X day.
