Question:

Anyone hear about Alicia Keys conspiracy theories?

I thought she was normal, guess I was wrong. Here's part of an article I just read:

There's another side to Alicia Keys: conspiracy theorist. The Grammy-winning singer-songwriter tells Blender magazine: "'Gangsta rap' was a ploy to convince black people to kill each other. 'Gangsta rap' didn't exist."

Keys, 27, said she's read several Black Panther autobiographies and wears a gold AK-47 pendant around her neck "to symbolize strength, power and killing 'em dead," according to an interview in the magazine's May issue, on newsstands Tuesday.

Another of her theories: That the bicoastal feud between slain rappers Tupac Shakur and Notorious B.I.G. was fueled "by the government and the media, to stop another great black leader from existing."

I just lost some respect for her. I new she was getting desperate when I saw those commercials she's been doing on MTV but who knew how weird she really was?

I'd love to hear any opinions!

  1. I seen that on Perez the other day. That is just stupid. I like rap music and I'm white and am not the least bit violent. They make music because it is what they do to make money, not to give each other an excuse to kill each other. If they wanted to kill each other they would have done it a long time ago (before they made music).

  2. I saw that also.  I agree it's somewhat dissapointing to hear.  I'm a huge fan of Alicia's but beliefs like that make me wonder.  I'd like to know where she gets her information from.  But overall it just kind of makes me sad to hear, I didn't expect that from her!

  3. Five minutes of fame on TV and in movies is enough glory for young men thirsty for attention, no matter how they achieve it, said Fareed Thomas, who was recently released from a California penitentiary and is now into RAP. The BET episodes (American Gangster) showcase the money and so-called good times the gangsters enjoyed, but a fraction of the time was spent on how they went to jail, Mr. Thomas said.  Historically, American gangsters have been European and portrayed in films like “The Godfather,"  ÃƒÂ¢Ã‚€ÂœScarface,” “Bugsy,” “King of New York,” “Casino,” “Gangs of New York” and “Good Fellas.” The problem, said Mark, a L.A.-based gang member, comes with the BET series singling out Black men and ignoring the criminal history of gangsters of various ethnicities.

“It is hypocritical to a point. If BET just didn’t do it as Black, that would be one thing, but if you’re going to showcase one gangster, then showcase them all.Why is BET (no longer Black owned) only stopping at the Black gangster?Do only Black gangsters go to prison?” he said. The prison industry is a thriving industry and I don't agree with all of her views but there seems to be some validity.
