Question:

Anyone heard of the super virus going around lately titled "postcard from Hallmark"?

I recieved an email warning of the dangers of this thing and apparently even Norton is having problems sussing it out.

  1. Nah its a really old virus thats names has been circulated in an email. Nothing to worry about at all

  3. It was a super virus at the time. These SPAM emails were generally associated with the Storm Botnet which was and is run by organised Crime in Russia. There  is some evidence that it is associated with the Russian Business Network, a rogue internet service provider.

    Storm was undetectable for a while but it is now well known and recognisable. Accordingly, most AV solutions will spot it now. That said, it is always mutating and the botnet (the compromised machines sending out the mails and hosting the malware for download) is still active and recruiting new machines and the malware changes often. It may be too early to say that this is a spent force.
