How long is your obligation to the Peace Corps?

I've been reading through their website so I am not totally clueless but personal experiences help greatly.

In a nutshell: you need to volunteer right now, locally, in endeavors that the PeaceCorps would feel makes you a good candidate for work abroad. You also need to be debt free. The biggest assets are work experience that transfers well to developing countries and the ability to work in another language (French, Spanish, Russian, Arabic...)
